Saved by Grace Through Faith
There is an unfortunate reality that plagues us all. Sin is present within us, and death is knocking at our door (Romans 5:12). As sinners, we are worthy of God’s wrath, as we stand unrighteous before a holy and righteous God (Romans 2:5). It is only a matter of time before we all partake of the grave. From the dust we were created, and to the dust we shall return (Genesis 3:19); Furthermore, we shall stand before God in judgment (Hebrews 9:27). This is a judgment in which scripture has already proclaimed the verdict. We are guilty and unable to present ourselves righteous before God.
Thankfully, there is hope. A hope that can only be found in one mediator, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior (1 Timothy 2:5). The God who created us, man rebelled against. In response, God has shown his mercy and longsuffering towards man. He commended His love towards us by dying on the cross, shedding his blood as payment for sins, being buried in a tomb for three days, and resurrecting for our justification (Romans 4:25). In great humility, He put on flesh in sacrificial love to those of us without hope, so that we may have eternal hope in Christ. How are we to gain this hope? By trusting the gospel of the grace of God for the salvation of our souls…
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved… For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.” - 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast. – Ephesians 2:8-9
God has dispensed His grace to us by the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. We find salvation from sin, death, and hell when we put our faith and trust in His perfect work done for us by Calvary. Faith, according to scripture, “is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1). The substance of our faith is in the glorious, resurrected Lord Jesus Christ and His work done on the cross for us. As the cross of Christ is the only thing we can glory in (Galatians 6:14). This work was done by Jesus Christ alone, and none of our own. God has gifted us with His mercy in the dispensation of grace and forgives all trespasses for all those who will believe in Jesus Christ (Colossians 2:13). Through faith, we receive imputed righteousness in Jesus Christ (Romans 4:22-24). Thus, making us able to stand before a holy God, and He presents us justified in the one, Jesus Christ, who did the work on our behalf. What a glorious gospel that saves! I pray that you will trust it today.
